Operation: Defy Boredom

So I'm working on something new, to keep my head from imploding from boredom. This is a semi-self portrait, based on a dream I had recently. I honestly don't remember anything about the dream except it included explosions, casual business attire, and hammerhead sharks.

Go ahead and fullview 'em for full detail.

Tin Man

Assignment for the Digital Illustration final, reinterpreting/illustrating the Wizard of Oz. This is my version of the Tin Man, a character that I have named Nikhil and have fitted him into my own comic.

China

Editorial illustration on 18"x18" wood panel, acrylic. The assignment was to create a finished editorial illustration for an article in Narrative Illust. I chose the sort of recent National Geographic issue about China titled "Inside the Dragon." There were two spot illustrations sketched in my sketchbook for the assignment too, I might post later.

Oedipus and the Sphinx

Painting of Oedipus and the Sphinx, for Illustration I. I decided to do my own spin on the topic and make the piece have a sexual tone, relating to erotic asphyxation. The Sphinx's name comes from the word originally meaning "strangler" and killed her victims by strangulation. Was thinking of Moreau's piece on the subject, as well as Ingres's sphinx.

Done on a piece of gessoed chip board prepped in high school, 14"x18"

Why Mister Poe, What A Black Cat You Have

Part 1 of a 3-part diptych illustrating Poe's "The Black Cat." Lots of planning involved in this project. Each is vertical 11"x18" and this first piece is completely digital. Resolution 300, so the psd is like...127 megabytes. Saving is a BITCH, but it's really close to done... I just need to figure out if i'm going to put some text or a pattern at the bottom of the frame. Any suggestions?

Work In Progress!

So, the aforementioned work in progress: The assignment is to do a 45 cover and back, the back which I will do in class. Apparently, a 45 is the old name for a single released on its own mini vinyl or something like that, but someone told me the cover size was 7x7". So yeah, mini I guess? Anyways, the song is Mark Farina's "Dream Machine." Go crazy.
